Hot Dogs

What is it about a hot dog at a ballgame? Those are the best-ever lookin', smellin', tastin' hot dogs in the world. It's just one of those things--very similar to having a corn dog at the State Fair; or cotton candy at the Circus; or caramel apples at the Fall Festival; or a sno cone at the swimming pool.

Speaking of swimming pools, we went over to our friends' house on Sunday after church. It was an afternoon get-together for our Sunday School class. We started out with hamburgers & hot dogs off the grill, chips & dip, and pan cookies. And lemme just say...it was Beeeeeeelicious with a capital B!! :)

So after we ate, Sam and I got the kids ready (Maya & Dominic) to go for a swim. We were having a lot of fun. Sam was pulling Maya around in her new floating-mobile, and I was giving my arms a workout by lifting Dominic out of the pool and catching his jumps--I'm sure we did that at LEAST 500 times! (Okay, I'm exaggerating--it was probably only 492 times!)

It wasn't long before Maya was ready to get out of her floater. So she decided to go sit and play on the steps of the pool where the water was billowing into the pool. In the mean time, Sam or I (I'm not sure which of us came up with the brilliant idea) decided it would be fun to toss Dominic back and forth in the air. We were all loving it and having a super fun time, but we figured after a couple throws to and fro that we should stop before Dominic swallowed up the entire pool!! The only problem was, well, we didn't make that decision soon enough. The next thing I knew, we had a new spot from which the billowing water was coming--Dominic's mouth! And it was then that I realized I was surrounded by floating chunks of hot dog! Yum!! And this kid wasn't just puking a little water up--he was ferociously vomiting. So I grabbed him as quick as I could and threw him out on the deck to my dad as I yelled, "EVERYONE OUT OF THE POOL!" After a few more spews from his mouth, he stopped. By this time, the pool was loaded, and I mean LOADED with floating hot dogs. My dad grabbed the water hose and sprayed Dom off, and me too--now THAT was cold! As I walked to the house, I couldn't help but to keep looking in the pool...I kept wondering how many hot dogs he had eaten---it looked like a whole pack of those suckers floating around in that water! I better quit or I'm going to puke while I'm typing this. lol

So we went inside to get changed. I went in to change myself first. I pulled my swimsuit off, and well, let's just say I heard a bunch of little somethings hitting the floor--yep, you got it--my suit was COMPLETELY FULL of hot dogs! I was so embarrassed...I'll be amazed if we're ever invited back to this house again!

So I cleaned up the bathroom floor, and then I went out to get Maya changed. She was playing in her buddy Nathan's playroom so I went ahead and took her swimsuit off, along with her Little Swimmer (diaper). I went out to the living room to grab her a diaper, and when I got back into the playroom my sister gasped and whispered, "oh my gosh, Sarah!!!!!!!" I looked over just in time to see Maya straddling Nathan's truck. This truck had a hole right in the middle of it and wouldn't ya know, my child decided it would be a fun game to fill that hole up with pee. And she did just that.

Well, I'm going to wrap up, but you can surely imagine how embarrassed I was! Thank the Lord for good friends! I finally worked up the nerve to tell Carmen what had happened...so when she got done cleaning chunks out of the pool, she came inside and had to disinfect her son's toys! And bless her heart--she just tilted her head back and laughed about all of it...AND she even offered for me to take a shower before I left. Let me just say that was the best shower I've had in a long time!!!

So are any of you planning on having hot dogs tonight? If you were, I bet you won't be now! :)

Love you all!
