I know there is a biblical reference describing Satan as a prowling, roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
My dearest prayer warriors, I am begging you to fall on your face before God and intercede for those you know who Satan is doing his best to devour. If God lays it on your heart, please lift up the people of Wichita Grace. We have several "battles" going on right now, and they are completely heart-breaking and devastating.
Specifically, I would like you to remember a little boy, 3-years-old...the same age as Gus. He lays in a hospital bed today as a result of critical head injuries. I would like you to remember the mother who is sitting behind bars after being charged with felony child abuse, awaiting a preliminary hearing on September 6.
Just a few weeks ago, she was sitting in the church pew behind me. Anger. Frustration. Yep, they were both there, too. Who was it that said anger begins as a drop of water? (Oh, that's right - it was Max, my favorite author.) "An irritant. A frustration. Nothing big, just an aggravation. Someone gets your parking place. Someone cuts you off on the highway. A waitress is slow, and you're in a hurry. The toast burns. Drops of water. Drip. Drip. Drip. Drip.
Before long, you've got a bucket full of rage. Walking revenge. Blind bitterness. Unharnessed hatred. We trust no one and bare our teeth at anyone who gets near. We become walking time bombs that, given just the right tension and fear, could explode like Mr. Goetz."
And, I'm afraid that's exactly what happened. Sadly and sickly, it happened at the expense of a precious, innocent little boy who deserves nothing less than to be loved and loved and loved and loved.
Heart-breaking.
Devastating.
As I mentioned earlier, this is only one of many. Luckily, we have a Secret Weapon, and with Him comes the assurance of victory. Please do not stop praying. If nobody else needs you right now, a 3-year-old little boy certainly does.
xoxo,
Sarah
