Today I am thankful that I am not a victim of domestic violence.
Today I am thankful that, as a child, and even still today, I have never witnessed my mom (or my dad) being battered, threatened, abused, intimidated, or isolated by some coward who felt the need to maintain some sort of gross power and control over another individual.
I am thankful that, for those who are not as fortunate as I am, there are shelters, case management, counseling, and support groups available to offer help and provide safe environments.
I am thankful for Project SAFE. I am thankful for the Wichita Area Sexual Assault Center, and I am thankful for Harbor House.
